Terms of Service

These terms set out the rules for using Nyotam — how accounts work, how prediction markets are run and resolved, and what we expect from every member of the community. Please read them carefully.

Introduction

Welcome to Nyotam (“Nyotam”, “we”, “us”, or “the platform”), a real-time prediction market where members forecast the outcomes of real-world events across football, politics, culture, business and more. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Nyotam and govern your access to and use of our website, applications, and related services (together, the “Services”).

Our goal is a platform that is transparent, fair, and clear about the rules. These Terms exist to protect both you and the wider community, and to keep markets credible for everyone who participates.

Our transparency principles

We commit to operating Nyotam on a small set of principles:

  • Clear rules. Every market publishes its resolution criteria before you participate.
  • Evidence-based outcomes. Resolutions cite the source used to determine the result.
  • Consistent enforcement. Community standards apply equally to everyone.
  • Honest communication. We tell you about material changes to these Terms and to how the platform works.
02

Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, you may not use the Services.

If you use Nyotam on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf.

03

Eligibility

To use Nyotam, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher.
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
  • Not be barred from using the Services under the laws of Uganda or your country of residence.
  • Provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of prediction markets is lawful where you live. We may restrict access from certain regions to comply with applicable laws.

04

User Accounts

You access Nyotam through a single personal account, created with a phone number or a supported sign-in provider such as Google. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.

  • Keep your login credentials confidential and never share access with others.
  • You may hold only one account. Operating multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage is prohibited.
  • Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
  • You may update your profile information and manage your preferences at any time from your profile settings.

Future releases may introduce wallet balances, deposits, and withdrawals. When those features launch, additional verification (such as identity or payment confirmation) may be required to keep accounts and funds secure.

Prediction Markets

A prediction market is a question about a future event with defined outcomes — typically Yes or No. Members take positions on the outcome they believe is most likely. Prices reflect the crowd’s collective view and move as new positions are taken.

Each market includes a question, a description, resolution criteria, and a close time. It is your responsibility to review every market’s details before participating. If anything about a market is unclear to you, do not take a position in it.

How market resolution works

  • Every market is resolved against its published resolution criteria — the same criteria you saw before participating.
  • Outcomes are determined from a credible, identifiable source, and the resolution records the supporting evidence used.
  • If an event is ambiguous, delayed, or the source is unavailable, resolution may be postponed until it can be settled fairly.
  • We reserve the right to void a market that was invalid, mis-specified, or affected by circumstances outside its stated criteria. Positions in a voided market are reversed.
06

Market Resolution

Resolution is the process of declaring a market’s outcome once the underlying event has concluded. We aim to resolve markets promptly, accurately, and with a clear record.

  • Criteria-driven. Markets resolve strictly according to the criteria published at creation. We do not change criteria after a market opens.
  • Evidence attached. Each resolution includes the outcome and the supporting evidence or source that justifies it.
  • Void and refund. Where a market cannot be resolved fairly, it is voided and positions are reversed rather than paid out.
  • Good faith. Resolution decisions are made in good faith. We may review and correct a clear, demonstrable error.
07

User Conduct

Nyotam works because members engage honestly and respect one another. By using the Services you agree to:

  • Use the platform for its intended purpose — forecasting and discussing real-world events.
  • Provide accurate information and not impersonate any person or entity.
  • Respect other members in comments and discussions.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and these Terms.

Community standards

Comments and discussion are part of what makes markets interesting. To keep them useful and welcoming, we expect good-faith participation: stay on topic, be respectful, and back claims with reasoning. Content that harasses, deceives, or spams the community will be removed.

08

Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited and may result in removal of content, suspension, or a permanent ban:

  • Spam. Repetitive, irrelevant, or promotional content that disrupts the platform.
  • Fraud. Any deceptive scheme intended to obtain an unfair advantage, funds, or access.
  • Harassment. Threatening, abusive, hateful, or targeted behaviour toward any person.
  • Market manipulation. Coordinated trading, wash activity, or attempts to distort prices or resolution.
  • Multiple-account abuse. Creating or operating more than one account to evade limits or influence markets.
  • Automated abuse. Bots, scrapers, or scripts that interact with the Services without authorisation.
  • False information. Knowingly posting misleading claims to influence markets or other members.
  • Malicious activity. Attempting to breach security, exploit vulnerabilities, or interfere with the platform’s operation.
09

Content & Comments

You retain ownership of the comments and content you post, but you grant Nyotam a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that content as part of operating the Services.

  • You are responsible for the content you post and must have the right to share it.
  • We may remove content that violates these Terms or our community standards, at our discretion.
  • Removal of content does not always require prior notice, particularly where it protects other members.
10

Account Suspension

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, abuse the platform, or create risk for other members or the integrity of markets.

  • Where appropriate, we will tell you the reason and, for less serious issues, give you a chance to put things right.
  • Serious violations — fraud, manipulation, or malicious activity — may result in immediate, permanent removal.
  • You may stop using Nyotam at any time and request that your account be deleted (see our Privacy Policy).
11

Platform Availability

We work to keep Nyotam reliable and available, but the Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

  • We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time to maintain, improve, or secure the platform.
  • Planned maintenance and unexpected outages can temporarily affect access or market activity.
  • Where an outage materially affects a market, we will resolve or void it as fairly as the circumstances allow.
12

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nyotam and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Services.

Nyotam is a forecasting and discussion platform. Information on the platform is not financial, legal, or professional advice, and you are solely responsible for the decisions you make.

When real-money features (wallets, deposits, withdrawals, and payment providers) become available, additional terms covering funds, fees, settlement, and refunds will apply and will be presented to you before you use them.

13

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms as the platform grows or as legal requirements change. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the product.

Continuing to use the Services after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using Nyotam and may request account deletion.
